It's the 1970s and sex and rock-and-roll gets a gay twist! This early '70s San Francisco look at times gone by details Larry Danser's travails as a male groupie. Subtitled How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Electric Banana, this slice of a certain kind of life incorporates and captures the freewheeling abandon of post-hippie culture in Hollywood. Blowjobs, masturbation, and sixty-nining are featured, plus lots of nude revelry, but the real point here is the community and culture the film captures and immortalizes. At times this film is both shocking and radical, with its wild parties and celebration of pleasure for pleasure's sake, but ultimately winds up as a cautionary tale. A testament to a world that can never exist again.
